Into Colour

Still getting my head around using after effects, just figured key framing out, so I'm only using basic techniques at the moment.

Panorama in Motion

Using After Effects in ADOBE for the first time using the panorama from the previous project. Going from black and white to colour.

Still trying to get my head around the program, first sort of experiment. Maybe explore from this?

The Beginning and the End of the Panorama

So I finally finished the panorama after slaving away.
Possibly if I continue with this, or if I have enough time, I might do a transition from the wilderness to the city.
Or another idea was to cut up the images into slits and have a sequence between the wilderness and the urban landscape.

I was thinking of presenting this as a screen piece. I took an image from Time Out website of a gallery space called 'Screen Space'

I tried to paste my own image into other gallery spaces, but i couldn't really get the angle right ect. so I just gave up.
A space I was considering was the Ian Potter Gallery at Melbourne University.

Beginnings of the Panomrama

So my first attempt in class was unsuccessful since I would decrease the size of the image, then make it larger again on another photoshop document which made the image blurry and lot's of quality and detail was lost.
So from learning from that initial mistake I joined these first two images.

Joining them together and using the eraser tool to blur the line to finish with:

So then I continued by joining the multiple photos taken at a 360 and have gotten up to around 4 or 5 images into one image

I still need to join the remaining images to create the full 360 view, but hopefully that won't be too far off and  I can start experimenting with this idea.

Working Through The Ideas

So my idea is to create a proposal for an installation in a city square.
I want to create the illusion that the person is encapsulated in a different space than the place that they just came from.

My friend inspired me when she talked about her trip to America. The feeling she got when she ventured into central park, as if the city had disappeared and she had been transported somewhere else.
I have to think about how tall and how wide the installation will be.
It would have to be above the average height so the viewer is immersed in the landscape.
To achieve the same atmosphere as Fredrick McCubbin's 'The Pioneer', 1904
If I do separate panels or create one long image to wrap around. I'm not sure if there should be two separate semi circles that go around each other so when the viewer is in the middle of the work they've been transported out of the city into the wilderness.

All the Thyme in the World Part III

Yes once again another shoot of the same boot, but I think it may not be going so well, the boot I mean.
I'm trying to add more items to reveal more of the identity of the previous owner of the boot and who they are/were.

I didn't go into the studio this time, just in my house so you can kind of see my piano in the background.

I also tried a new set of objects. The items are from various childhoods and a photo of a baby. I'm not sure if I'll continue with this or where I'll go if I continue with them

All the Thyme in the World Part II

First shoot in the studio wasn't so much of a success, still learning the parts of the studio but I think my second a attempt was much more successful than the first, so that's the one I'll post!

I used light painting to light the areas I wanted lit, and I used different torches to light in different shots. Not sure if I prefer to not show the torch in the shot.

Plan to do more still life work using different objects and light sources. To be continued.....

Project 2 in Digital Imaging

At first, I was going to create a montage of photos to create one final image made up of overlapping photos, however I came up with a new idea. I wanted to create the feeling of being in another space in a completely different setting. To have an installation where the photos seem to be wrapping around the viewer to feel as though they've been taken to another place.

Attempted Sketch

I thought I'd start with a setting of a trail near my house. I did make some mistakes with the ISO settings on my camera but next time I'll choose a different setting and take more time to set up and choose the correct camera settings.

Hopefully I'll be able to crop the photos correctly so they overlap and create one long image that can be wrapped around on it's self to create and enclosed space.

All the Thyme in the World

For my photography class I have created a 'herb boot', since for our project we can choose to photograph objects in the studio. I chose to create this boot to give it a new life that it needed.

Who said you can't buy time?

Its one of my Dad's old gardening boots which has been collecting a number of spidery residents. Also it brings me back to gardening with my Mum, where we would use my Dad's ratty old shoes to plant daffodil bulbs during the Autumn.

It was a little too early for daffodil bulbs so I decided on herbs because of the smell of the thyme and the use of the herbs after I've finished using it for my project.

Abandoned Houses

These are the images I took at abandoned houses in woop-woop, really interesting places with only a few musty parts of the houses which was a great change to the last place I ventured into.

Attempting A Set Using Objects

Just using a few elements to create a setting, however there was a problem when changing the format of the file so some of the elements were cropped

Attempts In Illustrator

Trying to do some effects with tools I now know. I was trying to create objects that I can use for my first assignment. Above I used the pencil tool to draw swirls over it's self.
The finished product didn't have many white gaps so I used the pathway that cropped the top intersection.

3D Bottles

I created a few bottles for the smokes and bubbles to come out of. For the final project I can alter the width, height and the colour to create more diversity. This is so I don't have to create a whole lot of different bottles

Inspired By Torture Willow

I then used the paint tool and chose a charcoal stroke to paint branches inspired by the song which reminded me of the willow in my house.

Illustrator: Looking At Project 1

For project one we have to respond to a piece of music, I chose a random song on my i-pod from the soundtrack of 'Good-bye Lenin'. I had no idea what the movie was about until I spotted it in my video shop. How I responded to the piece in illustrator didn't really keep the theme of the music. For the life of me, I can't find a youtube video of the who orchestrated version of the song called 'Dishes'.
I did find one short version of a person playing the piano part, but it isn't the same

There's the whose section missing with the clarinets and oboes which really create a different atmosphere. It gave me the image of a laboratory filled with smoke, bottles, branches and other random things.
So I think I'll try to create 3D bottles and smoke-like things to create a sort-of lab.

Working With Illustrator- Learning The Basics

Going back to uni and going back into working in Illustrator and Photoshop. Well honestly, I don't know anything about illustrator, luckily a family friend offered to give me a helping hand with all the tools. 6 hours later I think I had a better idea and a headache :/
I was shown through the tools, how to create pathways, about grouping objects ect.

Experimenting With Different Pathways

Out Of My Mind and My Lair

I intended with all the right idea to finally clean my room. What happens? I procrastinate with my camera and take photos of all my nick-knacks

Do You Hear The Bells?

Out Of My Mind

Think I'm going to start a new post that'll I do each few posts or so. I call it: 'out of my mind', for the random photos I take at home, at friends houses, with family and more experiments. Basically any photos that aren't related to my studies and I think I'll start with some photos from my grandfather's birthday.

The fork my boyfriend got to eat birthday cake with :P

They're not actually any photos of anyone, just some photos I took of the house. I tried to re-create the same atmosphere I saw in the opening credit photos in the horror flick 'Insidious'

My Grandma's Laundry
I used a sepia filter and changes the contrast, saturation, brightness and a few more elements to create an eerie atmosphere.

Baubles, Flowers and Bells From Chirstmas

Yes it has been a long while since the merry season, but I dug up some interesting shots I took while wandering my uncles house slightly bored. Some of the said shots came out okay-ish, playing with the manual focus for a few hours. Then I once again used my laptops manipulating tools and did some playing out. Here are a few of the finished products:
